While fans of the Da Vinci Code movie may want to start with director Ron Howard’s other Robert Langdon adventures, 2009’sAngels & Demons and 2016’sInferno, there are plenty of other mysteries out there that should pique the interest of anyone who enjoyed the original Dan Brown adaptation’s twists and turns.
What other movies should The Da Vinci Code fans see and where can they find them? The film has sequels, which are worth going to see. Kingdom of Heaven ? Most people still don't have a clue about it's subject matter, and it wasn't that successful either.ĭon't get me wrong, I'd love to see what you're talking about on the big screen, but.While this is going on, there’s plenty of action, great dialogue, and interesting character development, as well as a spooky vibe thanks to Silas, the main character, who spends a lot of time working late into the night. Inherit the Wind, was controversial (and right on) but went against the current, and wasn't that successful as I recall. I can't remember an atheist/free-thinker's film that went gangbusters. The Passion of the Christ drew in all the evangelists which is gonna happen occasionally. Even if half the people who watch it hate it or think it's blasphemous/offensive/racist/revisionist/wrong, they are watching, they are paying, and they are talking passionately about how much they hated/loved the film with their friends, family and colleagues - many of whom will want to see what all the fuss is about. In particular, Kingdom of Heaven and The Passion of the Christ come to mind. and in my recollection all of them benefited handsomely from the extra press. Regarding studios shying away from controversial topics: There have been loads of films with controversy arising from religion-related content though. It's obviously a given that those will both be criticized for biblical errancy, even if they had God's seal of approval (whatever that might look like). That said, Exodus and Noah coming out this year might well slosh over into the area of controversy you appear to be seeking. Israel is ignoring all of it as hard as the Christians are because they don't want to be caught in the middle. You ought to check out the real archaeology and epigraphy going on with recent stuff in Israel what with the Dead Sea Scrolls, ossuaries of biblical characters including Jesus, etc. Specific, yes, but I'm wondering if there are some major productions in this genre that I've missed. So basically some kind of thriller-mystery about some conspiracy or quasi-historical shenanigans involving some powerful secretive organisation, such as the upper management of the Catholic Church or the equivalent of another major religion, or something along these lines. I've watched and enjoyed all of the National Treasure films, though I do think the first was the best. I watched Angels & Demons too, and enjoyed it albeit not as much as the first film.
